If you have been to a wedding recently, you have probably grabbed a funny hat or sunglass from the prop bin and stood in front of a backdrop giving your silliest pose and smile. Photo booths have become super popular over the past few years and don’t appear to be going away anytime soon. The selection of props available for photo booths definitely adds to the fun, but what about the backdrop itself? The backdrop can set the tone for the photo as well as provide a pop of color and a fun background.
If you are planning a wedding or organizing a party and you are having a photo booth for your guests, I have you covered in the backdrop department. Backdrops can be a simple as a colored sheet or large piece of paper, or they can be elaborate. I have seen backdrops covered with fresh flowers and one even had a ton of gold metallic fringe. The backdrop I did falls somewhere in the middle. It is more elaborate than a sheet, but it can be constructed in less than 30 minutes!
Paper pinwheels have been around forever. They are really easy to make and have such a playful vibe to them. I wanted to create a backdrop full of lovely pinwheels, but I wanted to supersize mine. I used a 12×12 sheet of double sided scrapbook paper to create my large and in charge pinwheels. You can honestly whip up a bunch of pinwheels and stick them to a wall in less than 30 minutes. That’s right, in less than 30 minutes you will have a photo-worthy backdrop that your guests will want to jump in front of and begin snapping photos stat!
