CIY: Black Studded Clutch

When I think of studs, I typically think of tough bikers cruising down the street on their motorcycles. Now, being I am not one to take a ride on a motorcycle (I am actually afraid of them!), I figured I wouldn’t ever be part of the stud accessories clan. Well, that has changed!

Have you seen all of the studded clothing and accessories popping up all over fashion mags? It seem this trend is everywhere. There are studded shoes, headbands, purses, short, and sweaters!  I really could go on-and-on.  I’m not sure if it’s because I have seen so many studded fashions that I have convinced myself that I like it or if I really actually like it.  Either way, it inspired me to transform my fabric clutch that my friend Danielle gave me into a black studded clutch.  I added some fabric paint and some studs and did a total transformation.

I think the little studs might actually have a classy-esque look to them.  What do you think?

{Step 1}:Remove the chain from your purse using pliers. Cut a piece of cardboard and put it inside of your purse.

{Step 2}: Paint both sides of your purse. I did about three coats of paint. Let your paint dry.

{Step 3}: I used the skulls on my purse for placement of my studs. Once you figure out where you want your studs, push down on your purse leaving little holes. Take your push pin and push each of your four holes. Then, take the prongs on your stud and push them through the holes. Use your pliers to close your prong around your fabric on the inside of your purse. I did two studs side-by-side.

{Step 4}: Add another stud above and below your two studs. Repeat step 3 and 4 until you have your desired number of studs on your purse.  You are finished!
