The other night I decided to walk home from work. I was feeling like a little fresh air and exercise. My walk is a nice 3.2 mile stroll filled with lots to look at. There are always new stores and restaurants popping up (which feels like every other day). Not to mention all of the good people watching. My route home usually feels like the Tour de France with all of the bike riders zipping by on their way home.
When I got closer to home, I walked by a Payless shoe store. They had a sign hanging in the window about a sale they were having on sandals. Of course, they had me at “Sale”, so I popped in. I looked through all of the sale sandals and found a pair that had quite a bit going on. They looked more like a straight jacket for your feet! Then, my little CIY eye saw past these overly strappy sandals, and saw a simple strap sandal. Yep, I cut the heck out of my sandals! I figured at $9.99 (approx. $10.50 with tax) I could risk potentially ruining these sandals.
P.S. These sandals are actually very comfortable!
Supplies:
– Payless sandals (or other super strappy sandal)
– Scissors
– Box cutter
{Step 1}: Grab your scissors and cut the strap that goes down your foot as close to the strap that goes over your feet. Repeat with your other sandal.
{Step 2}: Use your scissors to cut the strap from the gold circle that goes around your ankle. Repeat with your other sandal.
{Step 3}: Use your scissors to cut the strap that runs between your toe. Cut the strap as close as you can to the sole of the shoe and the strap that goes over your foot. Repeat with your other sandal.
{Step 4}: Grab your box cutter and start to cut into the remaining strap connected to your sole. I cut through the side of the strap and then was able to rip it off.
{Step 5}: Your sandal should look like this. This will not bother your feet if you cut it deep enough. Repeat this step with your other sandal.

Oh wow those sandals had a lot going on! They were like all the boots (it’s winter where I live) that are out now, so many buckles and straps. Your simpler version is much nicer :)

I do love me a simple sandal. Especially without that painful toe strap. Such a clever idea!

I agree! These are way more comfortable now that the straps are gone. :)
