I haven’t really worked much with leather, but I am always so impressed with the projects I see that incorporate leather pieces. I wanted to try an easy leather project, so I ended up going with this super easy DIY leather tassel keychain!
Tassels are still a very popular accessory. You can find these fun little frillies on necklaces, handbags, bracelets, shoes, and so much more! I wanted to create a tassel out of leather that would dangle from my keys. I am not really sure where my original key chain went, so the timing of this project was perfect! My keys were looking a little plain with no keychain!
Normally, you would grab a leather piece and cut slits into it to create a tassel. I was lucky enough to find a pretty turquoise piece of leather that already had the slits cut in it. SCORE! Finding this already-cut leather tassel made my tassel making that much easier!
When I was looking for the actual keychain to attach my tassel to, I came across a levered clasp with a loop at the bottom of it, which I thought was perfect for my tassel. I really liked the clasp feature because it meant I could move my tassel around. If I wanted to add a pop of color to a clutch, all I would have to do it unclip my keychain from my keys and clip it to the zipper on my purse-so easy! You also could add your tassel to your luggage, favorite handbag or wallet. The possibilities really are endless!
