Every year I decide to add a little bit more to my Christmas Decor and this year is no different. I wanted to switch things up a bit and instead of using the message board I had on display last year, I wanted to create a sign that said “Merry Christmas”. I used the Walnut Hallow Floral Wreath Sign and decided to think outside of the box.
To make it a little more festive, and add some dimension, I painted the design white and glued on some mini pom-poms to make the wreath look like Holly. Let’s be real, I’m always trying to incorporate pom-poms into any and every project I’m working on. I just love them so much!
White Paint Pen White Acrylic Paint
– Paint Brush
– Hot Glue Gun and Glue
I started by using a white paint pen to add color to the engraved design, but my paint was a little light so I ended up going back in with a paintbrush and adding white acrylic paint.
After my paint was dry I took mini pom-poms and hot glued them in clusters of three all around the design.
Then, I used my cricket to cut “Merry Christmas” on black vinyl. To position the design how I wanted it, I used Cricket Transfer Tape which made it so easy! Since my plan for this sign was to just rest it on the shelf, I didn’t add anything to the back. However, you could add a sawtooth hanger or hot glue a piece of twine if you want to hang it on your wall.
Just think of the possibilities for this wooden piece! You could use the same idea but ticket for the different seasons. You could add paper flowers or fake flowers to the wreath and include “Happy Easter” or “Welcome Spring”. Or, you could do something festive for St. Patrick’s Day. This wooden sign piece truly is versatile for a holiday!
