DIY Kiss Me I’m Irish Banner

22.jpg

On St. Patrick’s Day everyone is Irish, right? You may as well play the part (even if you aren’t) with a festive “Kiss Me I’m Irish!” banner!

I enlisted the help of my Cricut Explore Air 2 to help me create a fun mini banner for my shelves perfect for St. Patrick’s Day.  Instead of cutting out letters and gluing them onto my banner, I decided to cut the letters out of the center of each banner.  To create a cool dimensional look, I added a foam square to gold glittery paper and added it behind each letter.  I really like the look it created!  I figured no banner would be complete without some crafty bling (i.e. pom-poms or tassels).  So, I made some mini yarn pom-poms using my fingers (I know, I know, I really need to get a pom-pom maker!). I fluffed them up a bit to help fill them out.  You can see the full tutorial below on how you can make your own glittery “Kiss me I’m Irish” banner (even if you aren’t Irish!).

Supplies:

  • Gold Glitter Paper
  • White Cardstock (2 sheets)
  • Twine
  • Foam Squares
  • Hole Punch
  • Scissors
  • Yarn Needle
  • Cricut Explore Air 2

Use this template with your Cricut machine to cut out your banners from white paper.

You can leave the slits that are cut at the top, or you can use a hole punch to make them bigger like I’ve done below. Next,  cut a piece of gold paper that is slightly lager than your letters.  Flip the banner over and add a few foam squares around your letters.  Then, add your gold paper to the back.

Repeat this with all of your letters.

Make pom-poms with either your fingers or a pom-pom maker.  You’ll want a total of 14.

Finally, thread your needle with your twine and run it through a pom-pom, then behind the ‘K’.  You’ll repeat this process until you have created your banner.  Since I used this on two shelves, I did “Kiss Me” as one banner and “I’m Irish” as another.

When your finished string it along your shelves, mantle, or wall!
