I’ve been putting together a list of holiday decor I want to make this year. Every single year I somehow manage to have an ever-growing list of project ideas and high hopes that I’ll actually complete all of them. This year, I’m getting a head start on my Christmas crafting with this DIY Silver Matte Metallic Snowflake Candle Holder!
DecoArt has so many amazing products to choose from if you’re a crafter. They honestly have paint for any surface imaginable, along with any color and finish you could ever want. For my DIY Silver Matte Metallic Snowflake Candle Holder, I wanted to bring in some festive elements by using their Matte Metallic paint.
I paired the Matte Metallic Paint with a couple of glass vases I scored from the Dollar Store. To get my perfect snowflake shape, I used my Cricut Explore Air and some adhesive vinyl to make a mask–it was so dang simple! Supplies:
– Clear Vases/Candle Holders (I bought 2 sizes from the Dollar Store)
– DecoArt American Decor Matte Metallic Paint in Silver
– Paint Brush
1. Clean off the surface of your vase/candle holder. Either cut out snowflakes from adhesive vinyl using either a Cricut Explore Machine, freehand, or stencil. Remove the adhesive liner and place the snowflake on your candle/vase. I added a total of 4 snowflakes to my vase. Make sure the vinyl is smooth against the glass with no bubbles.
2. Begin adding paint over the entire vase. Let the paint dry. Once dry, continue adding coats of paint until you have good coverage.
I did 4 coats of paint.
4. Remove the adhesive vinyl. If needed, use a craft knife to get the vinyl off.
You can make multiple DIY Silver Matte Metallic Snowflake Candle Holder and line them on a mantle, shelf, or table. It would also look really pretty down to have different sizes staggered down the center of a holiday table!
