XO Vinyl Valentine’s Day Pillow

Now that I have kids I am all about decorating for the holidays.  For me, it all started with Halloween this year.  I even made the small transition from bats and scary pumpkin faces to Fall decor like leaves and plaid pumpkins.  I definitely kicked it up a notch when Christmas rolled around with wood slice ornaments and a cute little pipe cleaner tree.

When Christmas made it’s official exit (in my house it’s January 1st or 2nd), I was kinda bummed.  I knew Valentine’s day was next up on the list of holidays and I wasn’t feeling as excited to transform my living room shelves.  Until, I got a Cricut for Christmas.  I’m pretty much obsessed with it and have created so many Valentine’s Day projects, starting with this XO Vinyl Valentine’s Day Pillow.   I wanted to make pillows for the other holidays to really transform my living room, but ran out of time.  I was really on my game this time around.

I used a basic font script I found on Dafont.com.  Then, I added it to the design space and printed it out.  It was pretty basic, I but I was impressed with myself for figuring it out!  Check out the full tutorial below.

Supplies:

  • Fabric
  • Black Iron-on Vinyl
  • Iron
  • Sewing Machine
  • Thread
  • Yarn
  • Scissors
  • Cricut
  • Batting

Cut out your brush stroke X O on your vinyl. Cut two piece of fabric the same size in a square shape Iron the vinyl onto the piece of fabric that will be the front.

Make four tassels. Place your pillow so your design in facing inward. Pin the tassels to each corner, making sure they are on the inside with the strings hanging out.  Sew all around your pillow leaving about inches at the bottom unsewn.  Finally, Turn you pillow right side out.  Stuff it with batting and stitch the bottom opening closed.

Toss it on your couch and enjoy!

Simple, but elegant and oh so adorable! Love the black, on white with highlights of pink yarn tussles too! Never thought of doing a pillow with vinyl accent simply for Valentines day, but might be a great touch for our Valentines dinner party! Thanks for the inspiration!

This pillow is super cute for Valentine’s Day! My daughter would love the cute pink tassels for a themed pillow on her bed! I love using my Cricut Explore Air 2 around the holidays to spruce the house up for the season! So fun!
