If you have little kids
in your house you know they LOVE to grab some paints, markers, crayons, and
mark just about anything and everything. Coloring is such a great activity for
kids since it allows them to tap into their creative side and explore bright colors,
shapes and designs.

Spring is trying really
hard to rear its head here in Chicago. It likes to tease us with a sun filled
day with birds chirping here and there. Then, it gets bashful and goes back
into hiding giving us cold, dreary days and even snow! Ugh! Instead of getting
mad at the weather (which is really hard to do this time of year) I decided to
focus on the next holiday that is all about Spring–two cheers for Easter!

As winter slowly starts to make its way out, it’s time to welcome spring in! This easy custom DIY floral spring wreath is just what you need to add a pop of color to your home. Not only is it bright and cheery, but it’s also customized making it one-of-a-kind!
I partnered with Craft Cuts to come up with a project using their customizable wood pieces. There are a tone of wood shapes and fonts to choose from when creating a custom piece. For my wreath, I was able to select the size, material, thickness and measurement of the inner circle for my wooden ring wreath shape. I was able to choose a font fro their various options along with the material I wanted, the thickness, and the length of my word. They also have stencils and vinyls available. Like I said, every detail is customizable–it’s AWESOME!!! (more…)

I have a true obsession for florals. Whether it’s scrapbook paper, stencils, fabric designs, or notebook covers, I’m always find myself drawn to ones that have a floral design! This isn’t a new phase for me. It’s one that’s been going on for as long as I can remember. When I was younger, I would go through my mom’s Better Homes and Garden’s magazines and cut out all of the pages that had flowers on them and turn them into collages. It was such a fun activity for me since I loved arranging all of the flowers together to create my own garden masterpieces.
My latest ongoing project has been working to update decor pieces in my living room. As I try to do this on a budget, I’ve been looking for inspiration that I can DIY myself. I wanted to take my plain picture frames from drab to fab without needing to put forth a ton of effort. Once again, florals have found their way into my updated design. I got this AMAZING floral pattern stamp from Rubberstamps.com. I was really drawn to the delicate and intricate floral designs. I grabbed this stamp because I thought it would be prefect to create a DIY floral photo matte for my boring frame. Since I knew I was covering a larger space, this 4″ x 6″ stamp was the perfect size. Check out the full tutorial below to see just how simple it is to create your own DIY floral photo matte!
I’ve really gotten bitten by the Christmas bug this holiday season. I just can’t stop making festive decor for my house! My next project is from a wooden teepee I got from Walnut Hollow. I’ve been holding on to this piece for a while waiting for the right project. Since I have all of the Christmas feels, I decided to transform my adorable teepee into a Christmas tree! Get the full details below. (more…)
Shortly after Thanksgiving I was doing my annual Christmas trip to Crate & Barrel walking around looking at all of the pretty holiday things. I love Crate & Barrel any time of the year, but around the holidays is my absolute favorite time! During my casual stroll through the store, I came to the garlands section. Ugh, everything was so incredibly cute!
What really caught my eye was this really cute felt holly garland. Now it wasn’t crazy expensive or anything but the materials to make it were so basic that I knew I could recreate it myself for a fraction of the cost. So, I headed to Joann’s and picked up some felt sheets, pipe cleaners, and pom-poms to make my very own version of the Crate & Barrel felt Garland. (more…)
Every year I decide to add a little bit more to my Christmas Decor and this year is no different. I wanted to switch things up a bit and instead of using the message board I had on display last year, I wanted to create a sign that said “Merry Christmas”. I used the Walnut Hallow Floral Wreath Sign and decided to think outside of the box. (more…)
We have officially entered the holiday season. Trees are going up, mantles are getting dressed and the hunt for the perfect gift has started. With all of the planning and prep that goes into the holiday season, it can be the most stressful time of the year. We all manage to add an enormous amount of items to our to-do list before December 25th. It’s hands-down the busiest time of the year! (more…)
I’ve been putting together a list of holiday decor I want to make this year. The leaves around here have really been putting on a show. It feels like every single tree is trying so hard to outdo its neighbor with even more vibrant leaves. I’ve enjoyed watching the leaf changing process. I swear it’s like every single leaf changed colors over night! (more…)
